How does Laser Acne Scar treatment work?

First off, what is acne scarring?

Acne itself is a result of clogged pores, and has many causes - it’s usually associated with hormonal fluctuations during teenage years, but is also common amongst adults and children, making it one of the most common skin conditions out there.

Frustratingly, even after breakouts clear up, you can find yourself left with marks, dark spots or scars. This can last long after all evidence of the acne itself has disappeared. Scars are formed when a breakout penetrates the skin deeply and damages the tissues beneath, and, unfortunately, can be very slow to disappear or can even be permanent. Acne scarring affects both men and women, most frequently on the face, neck or back, but can occur on any area of the body.

This is where we can help.

How does Laser Treatment work for acne scarring?

At FADE, we exclusively offer the world’s leading Laser Skin Therapy technology - PicoSure®. This means that you don’t have to wait the months or even years that it could take for acne scars to disappear. If you’d like to refresh and renew the appearance of your skin right now, we offer the most advanced laser treatment available - PicoSure® Focus - to rejuvenate the skin and treat irregularities from acne scars.

The PicoSure® Focus is an FDA approved Laser Skin Rejuvenation procedure. It works by creating ultra short pulses that remove damaged layers of skin without harming surrounding healthy tissue. The light also helps to stimulate collagen production and creates new skin cells in the underlying layers, revealing younger looking, scar-free skin. In each session, a layer of damaged skin is removed to reveal the healthy skin beneath. The ultra-short pulses are delivered through a handheld stylus that your therapist will move over your skin, meaning that treatments are very quick - typically just a few minutes.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation activates your body’s natural skin cell processes to reveal healthy, more youthful looking skin. Only PicoSure® Focus treatments lighten unwanted pigment AND uniquely stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin — keys to younger-looking skin — without the pain or downtime of older laser treatments.

Will acne scars be removed completely?

In many cases, acne scars (as with any type of scar) cannot be removed completely, but their appearance can be significantly improved, to the point that they are not easily visible and blend in naturally with the surrounding skin. Each patient is unique, so the ultimate results will vary. However if you choose to have your treatment with us, you can feel confident that you’re receiving the most advanced treatment available, and can therefore expect the best possible results for acne scar removal.

What areas of the body can be treated?

The most common areas that are treated are the face and neck, but the procedure can be successful on any area of the body affected.

How many treatments will I need?

At FADE, we know that every patient is unique. We tailor your course of treatments for your specific skin type, needs and cosmetic goals. However, as a general guideline, you can expect to have between two and five treatments for optimal results.

Who is Laser Acne Scar Reduction suitable for?

Most people would be suitable candidates for our PicoSure® Focus treatments. However, it is less suitable for some skin types and medical conditions. The treatment works best for those with medium to fair skin tones, and is used to treat wrinkles, acne, hyper pigmentation or uneven pigmentation.

Preferred candidates for the procedure would also have non-oily skin that does not scar or bruise easily. Candidates who are taking any prescription medication for any pre-existing condition must let their doctor or dermatologist know prior to opting for Laser Treatment for acne scarring. Darker skin tones are typically less suitable for Laser Acne Scar treatment - this is due to the level of pigmentation in the skin, which increases the risk of damage to the skin cells.

What should I do next?
